This painting depicts pearling lugger boats. Pearl diving was one of the biggest industries employment for many Torres Strait Islanders.
During the time of my Grandfathers - Fathers and Uncles they would leave their families for long periods of time, working out in the sea. Life was hard back then. The E represents long lanes, they would make songs for tides, winds, currents and places where they travel. Colours are symbolic of me, a Torres Strait Islander.
